I was going through some old newspapers today, and it was then that I came across the news about Brittany Murphy‘s death. She was pronounced dead on Sunday 20th Dec ’09 at 10 am.
I have not seen many of her movies except ‘Uptown Girls’ and ‘Tribute’ (which is a TV movie- I am a big fan of Nora Roberts’ books). It is truly a loss for the Hollywood industry, and a greater loss for her family and her millions of fans.
She was so young, it is difficult to comprehend something like this immediately.
“Brittany Murphy, the bubbly, free-spirited actress who appeared in such films as ‘Clueless’ and ‘8 Mile’, died Sunday, apparently of natural causes, the Los Angeles County Coroner’s Office said. She was 32,” quotes The Times of India.
However investigators are not ruling out the cause as a drug overdose. When such a young girl dies suddenly, especially a Hollywood celebrity in Los Angeles, there is bound to be a possibility of acute combined drug toxicity.
Well, it is not the first time that this has happened. Remember Anna Nicole Smith and her son. Heath Ledger. And of course the most recent case- Michael Jackson. These are the latest cases and all I remember. There is a long list of names here in Wikipedia. It is kind of morbid I know, but it is really shocking to see such a lot of names.
I somehow still get extremely freaked about watching Heath Ledger films. I don’t understand why- maybe the suddenness of his death or whatever!
So why does this happen? Somehow it is unfathomable to me. I guess the pressure to look good, be successful, etc. induces people to take help of such prescription drugs. And doctors, nowadays are ready to concoct anything in order to please their A-list clientele.
I hope people understand the ill-effects of depending on chemicals to run their life, from all these examples. Who am I to say anything anyways, it’s their life, they can live however they want.
It just frustrates me, that’s all.
