Landed From The Moon

August 28, 2010

Yeah you read right, that’s where I had been all this time. I needed a vacation, thought I’ll go to the moon, see what’s it like :P.

Don’t believe me? I have proof…

Can you see these huge craters? They are caused by meteorite impacts or volcanoes. Now do you believe me ;)?

Jokes apart, these pictures depict the condition of roads in Mumbai. The city has marginally survived the onslaught of the rains, but what’s left are gaping holes on almost every road. This has made driving around extremely tedious and hazardous. Traffic at peak hours is unbearable, where one wastes precious time crawling, i mean travelling.

The BMC promises to better the situation, every single year. A few superficial repairs are carried out all around the city before the start of the monsoon, which soon tell a different story once the rain has done its work. Many stretches on major routes, like the Express Highways have literally split wide open in the wake of the fresh spell of rainfall.

Is it lack of good quality material, dearth of labour, or sheer unprofessionalism on the part of the civic authorities that is the cause of this havoc? And they dream of making Mumbai like Shanghai :P. Wake up!

Seriously, why is our tax money not being put to use. Why do we as citizens of supposedly one of the best cities in the world have to suffer through this absurdity. It is a sad affair, which needs to be taken heed of.

Only ‘when’, is the main question.
