The Last Sunset

September 27, 2010

The sun is sinking towards the horizon on its way towards oblivion. Its rays dazzling and magnificent, for the very last time.

"The Last Sunset"

Lying alone in my bed, exhausted and worn out, I reminisce about the sunsets we shared together. Those captivating moments are still fresh in my mind. I can see your face clearly, your engaging smile and your kind, sparkling eyes, as if you are right here with me.

I remember the day when you vowed you will wait for me, as you walked into that glorious light.

Now as the sun gets engulfed by the dark, I can see the light too. My heart leaps as your vision appears on the other side with open arms, inviting me in.

“We will be one again, my love.”

Taking one last breath, I close my eyes.

I was looking for a sunrise or sunset picture and yours was the first I clicked on. I am writing a book and in it was reiterating an experience of loss from a miscarriage. How fitting and raw and yet comforting at the same time to see the awesome hand of GOd in your photo and the humaness of your own loss in your poetic muse. Thank you for sharing your heart.
